Update (October 9, 2025): Prime Day has ended, so some prices in this article may no longer be available. I’m leaving the post up as a helpful reference for “sale” pricing. For current picks and everyday pricing, please see my updated guide: Smart-Home Picks at Regular Prices (Villages Edition) - Coming Soon
Prime Day deals on Amazon make it a perfect time to simplify your life with practical home automation. If you’ve been thinking about a video doorbell, smart locks, cameras, or “Good morning/Good night” voice routines—today’s the day. Order the gear while it’s discounted, then call Village Automation to install, configure, and train you how to use it. We’ll make sure pieces work together, keep fewer apps on your phone, and—where possible—pick no-monthly-fee solutions.

Quick Start: What do you want your home to do?
Front door: See/talk to visitors, unlock for trusted family, and have the door auto-lock behind you.
Simple security: A couple of outdoor cams for awareness, plus an indoor cam for the garage.
Lighting: “Good night” shuts things down; porch and a front lamp run on a schedule to look lived-in.
Snowbird alerts: Water leaks, freezer temp, and power-outage alerts so you don’t find surprises later.
Smart irrigation: On sale today for $50, B-Hyve smart irrigation adjusts to the weather and seasons, often paying for itself in a single season.
Robot Lawn mowing: At $700 on Prime Day, this is the lowest price we've seen on the Navimow wireless robot mowers. If you are mowing your yard, it is time to move to automation.
We’ll turn those goals into a simple plan, install it, and leave clear paper instructions for everyday use.
Our “No Monthly Fees” approach
Where possible, we recommend devices that don’t require a subscription for core features (recording, AI detection, etc.). That’s why you’ll see a lot of eufy + HomeBase in our picks—powerful features, local storage, no monthly bill.
And fewer apps on your phone—we aim to keep daily use in one app (Alexa or Apple Home). You’ll still have brand apps for setup and advanced settings, but you won’t need to juggle them every day.
How Village Automation helps
Local install + training: We install, label, and walk you through everything.
Clear paper instructions: Large print, step-by-step for daily tasks and “what ifs.”
Wi-Fi tune-up: We diagnose weak spots and, if needed, design a mesh that just works.
Routines that make sense: “Good morning,” “Good night,” and an “Away” mode that doesn’t nag.
Ongoing support: Need a tweak later? We’re local and happy to help.

Ecosystem: Alexa or Apple? (Keep it simple.)
If you are an iPhone home, Apple Home is an excellent option—especially for privacy—when you choose devices that support it.
If you already use Alexa, it’s a great “voice-first” choice with wide device support.
Either way, each device brand still has its own app for setup/advanced settings, but day-to-day use will be in the Alexa app or Apple Home.
Tip: For the fewest apps and no monthly camera fees, we often recommend eufy for cameras/locks and Aqara for sensors/locks. Wyze and Govee offer value gear (usually Alexa-only). Newer devices are slowly adopting Matter (a universal standard), but rollouts vary by brand.
Smart hubs (how voice control works in each world)
Alexa: Echo devices start around $25 (Echo deals). You’ll want an Echo in each room where you’ll speak commands.
Apple Home: You’ll need a home hub for automations away from home—HomePod (around $170) (HomePod) or an always-home iPad/Apple TV.
Aqara Hub M3 (for advanced Aqara automations like presence sensing): about $100 (Aqara M3).
Front Door: Locks & Doorbells (our favorite combo)
Why we like separathttps://amzn.to/4nCzYkSe doorbell + lock: People expect the doorbell to be at the doorframe, and you can upgrade one later without replacing the other. eufy is strong here because you can avoid monthly camera fees when you use a HomeBase.
Deadbolt smart locks (eufy = key backup + no camera subscription when used with HomeBase):
eufy Smart Lock E30 (Deadbolt + Fingerprint + PIN + Key) — ~$100 (Prime Day) → https://amzn.to/4nCzYkS

Why meross over MyQ for many Villagers? meross is hard-wired and Alexa/Apple-friendly; it lets you ask to close the garage by voice/app.

Power-outage + internet backup:
Battery backup UPS 660VA/400W — ~$60 → https://amzn.to/4pWLidi
Power Failure Detector with Text Message — ~$48 → https://amzn.to/4pWLidi
Put the UPS on your modem/router so alerts keep working for a while after the power goes out.
Smart Plugs & Bulbs (easy wins)

Robot lawn mowers:
Segway Navimow i105N (⅛ acre) — ~$700 → https://amzn.to/42rsCbI
Segway Navimow i110N (¼ acre) — ~$909 → https://amzn.to/4711kdC
Compare: EGO self-propelled electric push mower — ~$679 → https://amzn.to/3VQ474a
Most Villages yards average ~0.13 acres. A robot mower keeps the grass at a perfect height by cutting 2–3 times per week, and you skip the “weed transfer” risk from commercial crews.
